There are a few great day trips from Tbilisi for spring. If the weather is nice, I recommend doing something outdoors. Georgian National Museum: The Georgian National Museum is actually several museums combined. One of its most notable exhibits is a large collection of gold and jewelry. Other interesting exhibits include human fossils and the Soviet occupation. The museum is open every day except Mondays from 10:00 to 18:00 and is located on Rustaveli Avenue.
Open Air Museum of Ethnography: It is a great place to get to know Georgian culture up close. Houses, agricultural tools, living materials, clothes, statues brought from different regions of Georgia... In short, an open air museum where you can see sections of old Georgian life.

When I went, I came across the Charlie Chaplin paintings of Georgian artist Zurab Tseretelli, whom he admires, and the exhibition of Azeri artist Aida Mahmudova. David Agmashenebeli Avenue: A street famous for its classical architecture built in the 19th century. While I was thinking it was beautiful, I came across hookah cafes. What a shame, really. It didn't suit this cool street. There are extremely authentic places. The decision to visit is yours.
Tsereteli: Dezerter Market, the largest open-air food market in Tbilisi, is a great prize for tourists. Outside the marketplace, the surrounding streets are full of vendors, giving us great photo opportunities.

Let's start with the most important fact here. Georgian food is definitely good, but most restaurants put fresh coriander in every dish. In my 34 years of life, I realized here for the first time that I have a hypersensitivity to fresh coriander. However, I have also consumed ground coriander. Shoti: the bakeries that you can find in a window on any street without a sign are called Shoti. Georgian bread is something you should definitely try in Tbilisi. I'm talking about the bread baked in a well whose smell fills the whole street. This experience was very special for us. Just this is enough, it's that good.
Cafe Stamba: I have mentioned Hotel Stamba before. The printing house where Georgia’s first communist newspaper was printed. You will find an eclectic mix of Georgian craftsmanship, the latest flavors and art here. One of the most renovated buildings in Tbilisi. An incredibly magnificent and enjoyable hotel built by the visionary Adjara Group.
If you are not staying, you should definitely come here for a coffee break. We can say that it is more than just a bar and restaurant. It has a special chocolateria and roastery. We went for breakfast. We preferred ricotta pancakes and a plate of eggs benedict. Prices are normal for Tbilisi in general, between 25-30 GEL (May 2024). You can stop by this cafe in the hotel lobby for breakfast or dinner.
Breakfast Is: This is by far the most happening breakfast place in Tbilisi. We found it very successful as a family. There is no open kitchen and the slowness that is common in Tbilisi here. Although there is only one chef, I would even say it is fast. If there are 2 people, I would say get 1 sweet and 1 salty plate. Creme Brulee French Toast was very popular!
Chaduna: One of my favorite places for breakfast. The coffee at Chaduna was unlike any I've had anywhere else in Tbilisi. Opens at 10:00. The menu includes Chizhi Bizhi (a type of menemen with tomatoes and eggs), and the breakfast quesadillas are very, very good. All brunch dishes are 20-25 GEL (May 2024).
Lolita: This is a place with an open kitchen right across from Rooms Hotel. Everything happens right in front of you. It is one of the rare places where the service is fast. We tried scrambled eggs, pancakes and Benedict. The delicious plates we ate were 20-25 GEL. The place is nice, but I think it has a more suitable ambiance for dinner than breakfast. By the way, breakfast is served until 14:00.

They Said Books: When I learned that Five Elephant in Berlin used this coffee, I immediately put it on my list. The atmosphere and the design of the place already says, “Please sit down a little longer.” The coffee is already very good, and the carrot cake is a hit! You can come here just for that. There is a nice book collection downstairs. You can find many nice books in English, from cookbooks to life philosophies. It is a comfortable atmosphere for studying or just hanging out. However, it was very crowded the last time I went, and of course it is difficult to find a seat as a result of its popularity, and it is a very small place anyway.
Coffee Lab: I found another coffee shop 5 minutes away from Cheryni. The place is nice, the coffee is good. The service is just very slow. But this is a general situation for Tbilisi. It's like we're living in slow motion when we watch the employees.
Cafe Daphna: Definitely one of the first places you should go for khinkali. Meat-chicken soup, Georgian plate, fried sulguni cheese, khinkali are very good. Chikhirtma soup was good. Khinkali with mushrooms, cheese and potatoes are 1.5 GEL each. Khinkali with meat is 2 GEL each (May 2024).
Tamtaki: And now we come to my dürümcu! This is definitely one of the places I want you to try. When you are a little hungry, this is where you go for lunch. The pita goes into the oven the moment you order it. The meat starts cooking on the barbecue when you order it. Then all kinds of vegetables come inside. I ask, “Please, no coriander.” That’s it! We bought 2, one with meat and one with chicken. 20-21 GEL each (May 2024).
Mapshalia: Trying Georgian food for only 5-10 GEL! It is considered the most economical and delicious restaurant. We could not get in line with our stroller, and the restaurant on the ground floor was incredibly crowded. It is a completely local place. You can taste authentic Georgian food here. Cash only, just for your information!
Culinaryum Khaşheria: When you go to the sulfur baths side, please go here for food. The food is generally very good. We liked the khinkali soup and mushroom soup. Definitely try the fried cheese, the 'Satsivi' which is chicken with walnuts, the 'lobio' plate which is a type of bean appetizer and give this place a chance for other dishes of Georgian cuisine. If they ask if you want bread, say "Yes", it was incredibly beautiful. Yes, it is not very cheap but at least it is worth the money. The taste and service are very good.!
Cafe Littera: It was a place recommended by everyone I asked about Tbilisi. The food was delicious but really expensive. We got a plate of mussels and mushrooms and fried cheese. The starter, dessert and drink cost at least 100 GEL per person so I think you can make sharing and sensible choices here. The desserts were very good, I got a Mascarpone cheese dessert and the taste is still on my palate. They serve not only Georgian cuisine but also modern dishes that you can find in any good restaurant in the world. It would be much more enjoyable to sit in the courtyard in the spring.
Ninia's Garden: It was one of the dinner places I found most successful. Tomato salad, hummus, confit rabbit meat... Everything we ate was perfect. The place is incredibly charming. I strongly recommend you to make a reservation here for both the taste and the atmosphere. Prices 25-40 GEL (May 2024).
Shavi Coffee Roasters: Another coffee shop we love is Shavi. Shavi Coffee Roasters roasts green beans from Ethiopia, Guatemala and Brazil in the shop. The location of the cafe is very nice, with 2 seating areas facing the street. Their desserts are amazing, definitely try this place. There is a lot of seating inside, but the back is generally used for working, everyone is working with their computers. In the summer, there are benches in front of the door to sit.
Sulico: The thing I definitely want you to come here and try is the Tomato Burrata Galette. I would buy a ticket to Tbilisi just to eat this again
Funicular Restaurant: As the name suggests, you can go up here by funicular. It has a wonderful view. How about watching all of Tbilisi from above? And eating the best khachapuri? The best khachapuri I ate on my 2024 trip was here. It's a bit far from the center, but if you're coming in the spring, don't miss this place.
Chveni: Sunny garden and barbecue right in front of your eyes. This is a restaurant where an award-winning chef works. The chef interprets and presents traditional Georgian dishes. Choose from Georgian croquettes, chicken with chkmeruli sauce, ghomi, lobio and satsivi balls. But I think you should definitely order mushroom chips for the table!
Bazari Orbeliani: A large food and market area. There are activities for children on Saturday and Sunday. A well-designed, clean and modern market. You can buy many products here. The top floor is the food court. You can find all kinds of food from Georgian to international cuisine. We tried Burger Brothers, Luciana and Tacodore. Luciano was ehh, but Tocador and Burger Brothers were very good.
Veriko: An area with a few restaurants. One of them is Veriko, which offers fusion Georgian cuisine. Mint is one of the new places that has opened for breakfast. The atmosphere and everything we tasted were great.
Museum Cafe: Attached to the Georgian Museum of Fine Arts, Museum Cafe is an incredibly cute cafe with furniture, pop art pieces and retro Georgian posters. Its balcony overlooking Rustaveli Avenue is a delight in the spring!
Slink Cafe: An oasis hidden in the busy street of Marjanishvili district on the other side of the river. You walk through a small forest and come across a cute cafe with mint green windows. It will be much more lively in the spring, but it was also beautiful in the winter. When we entered, there was a crackling stove inside. Good for breakfast and lunch. We are people who walk every street and every hill during our entire trip, but the most sensible move you can make with a child in Tbilisi is to take a taxi.
Taxi will make your life much easier. Side streets are very hilly and especially tiring to move with a baby stroller. Apart from hilly streets, even crossing the street can be a problem in certain parts of the city, you use underpasses in areas where there are no pedestrian crossings or traffic lights, but unfortunately the lack of elevators there can be a challenge, especially for families traveling with a baby stroller.
